Reiki Master Teacher • Somatic Practitioner • Energy Worker • Educator • Creator of REIKI DANCE™
My name is Daniel Montoya, and I am a Reiki Master Teacher, somatic practitioner, energy worker, and educator based in Greater Boston.
For more than a decade, Reiki has been part of my own journey of healing, spiritual growth, and learning how to be more fully present with myself and others.
Over the years, my relationship with Reiki has grown beyond a healing technique. I have come to experience it as a sacred practice of presence—an invitation to slow down, listen to the body, soften into the heart, and reconnect with the part of ourselves that can sometimes become difficult to hear beneath stress, expectation, and the demands of everyday life.
Today, I offer individual Reiki sessions, Reiki training and education, workshops, embodied healing experiences, and REIKI DANCE™, the live healing experience of music, movement, and Reiki that I created.
My intention throughout all of this work is simple: to help people reconnect with themselves first, so they can become more present for themselves and for the people around them.
My Approach to Reiki
I believe healing begins with presence.
We do not always need to push, fix, analyze, or force something to change. Sometimes we need a space where we can slow down enough to notice what is happening within us and meet it with compassion.
My Reiki practice combines the traditions of Usui Reiki with meditation, body awareness, somatic principles, nervous-system awareness, intuition, and spiritual practice.
I am especially interested in the relationship between our emotional experiences, the body, our energetic patterns, and the ways we learn to protect ourselves throughout life.
This may include exploring experiences of:
stress and overwhelm
feeling disconnected from yourself or your body
emotional or energetic patterns that feel difficult to shift
triggers and protective responses
difficulty slowing down or receiving support
energetic imbalance or chakra awareness
boundaries and connection
ancestral or learned patterns
spiritual exploration and personal transformation
Rather than approaching these experiences with judgment, I invite curiosity.
What is the body communicating?
What needs support?
Where are we holding effort?
What might become possible when we feel safe enough to listen?
The goal is not to create an intense experience or force emotional release. My work is grounded in compassion, choice, pacing, respect, and the understanding that each person's experience is different.
A Trauma-Informed and Consent-Centered Practice
My work is informed by trauma-aware and somatic principles, particularly the importance of choice, consent, boundaries, pacing, grounding, and nervous-system awareness.
You do not need to tell me your trauma history in order to receive Reiki.
Before a session, I take time to check in with you emotionally and physically, understand what you are experiencing in the present moment, and explore what kind of support may feel appropriate.
Touch is always optional.
Consent is ongoing.
You are always welcome to change your mind, adjust your position, ask a question, request more space, remain silent, pause the session, or choose what feels right for your body.
This philosophy has developed into my Trauma-Informed Reiki Framework, an approach that brings together compassionate witnessing, intention, consent, Reiki, grounding, and integration.
Trauma-Informed Reiki is not psychotherapy or trauma therapy. Reiki is a complementary spiritual and wellness practice and is not intended to replace medical care, mental-health treatment, or support from appropriately licensed professionals.
REIKI DANCE™
I am also the creator of REIKI DANCE™, a live healing experience of music, movement, and Reiki.
REIKI DANCE™ grew from my desire to explore what can happen when Reiki moves beyond the treatment table and becomes an embodied, communal experience.
The practice brings together:
Reiki
somatic awareness
meditation
intentional movement
dance
professional live music
sound healing
rest
spiritual reflection
community and connection
There is no choreography and no expectation to perform.
Instead, participants are invited to quiet the noise of the mind, listen to the body, receive Reiki, and let movement become their meditation.
Sometimes that movement becomes dance. Sometimes it is subtle. Sometimes the body asks for stillness.
All of those experiences are welcome.
Since creating REIKI DANCE™, I have brought the experience to distinctive arts, spiritual, yoga, and community spaces throughout Massachusetts, including the Museum of Modern Renaissance in Somerville, Common Street Spiritual Center in Natick, and Yoga at the Ashram in Millis.
These gatherings have evolved through collaborations with Reiki practitioners, professional musicians, somatic and mindfulness practitioners, and sound-healing artists, allowing every REIKI DANCE™ experience to have its own character while remaining rooted in Reiki, presence, consent, embodiment, and connection.
Creating REIKI DANCE™ has become an important extension of my Reiki work: exploring healing not only through stillness and receiving, but also through music, movement, expression, community, and the wisdom of the body.
Professional Affiliations
Continuing education, professional ethics, and engagement with the wider Reiki community are important to me.
I maintain professional affiliations with organizations supporting Reiki education, professional practice, and research, including:
The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT)
Affiliate Member of the ICRT Reiki Membership Association
International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP®)
Professional Reiki community and association

Reiki research and evidence-based education community
I value remaining connected both to Reiki's spiritual traditions and to the evolving conversation around professional standards, ethics, research, and the responsible place of Reiki within complementary wellness.
Who I Work With
People come to Reiki for many different reasons.
Some are experiencing demanding careers and simply need somewhere to slow down.
Some are therapists, healthcare professionals, educators, caregivers, or other people who spend much of their lives caring for others.
Some are spiritual seekers.
Some are dancers, yogis, or people exploring a deeper relationship with their bodies.
Others may be moving through periods of transition, disconnection, stress, grief, or personal transformation.
And some are simply curious about Reiki.
You do not need to believe anything specific or have previous experience with energy work to receive Reiki.
My intention is to create a space where you can arrive as you are.
Working With Me
I offer in-person Reiki sessions in Greater Boston, including sessions at:
Watertown Center for Healing Arts
Watertown, Massachusetts
Boston Yoga Union
Brookline, Massachusetts
Online Reiki sessions are also available for people outside the Boston area or those who prefer to receive Reiki from home.
I also teach Reiki, facilitate workshops and community experiences, and bring REIKI DANCE™ to yoga studios, spiritual communities, arts spaces, wellness centers, retreats, and other environments interested in embodied healing practices.
Returning to Yourself
For me, Reiki ultimately comes back to relationship.
Our relationship with our bodies.
Our relationship with our emotions.
Our relationship with other people.
Our relationship with the sacred.
And, perhaps most importantly, our relationship with ourselves.
My hope is that the spaces I create allow people to feel seen, supported, empowered, accepted, and safe enough to be themselves without judgment.
Not because Reiki promises to remove every difficulty from life, but because presence can change the way we meet what is here.
Sometimes healing begins there:
with a breath, a moment of stillness, a compassionate hand, a movement, a piece of music, or the simple experience of coming home to yourself.
Teaching Reiki
Teaching is another important part of my practice.
As a Reiki Master Teacher, I offer Reiki education and certification for people interested in developing a personal Reiki practice as well as those who may eventually wish to offer Reiki professionally.
My teaching is rooted in the Usui Reiki lineage and emphasizes both traditional Reiki practices and the skills I believe are essential for practicing responsibly today.
Students learn Reiki through direct experience—not only through theory.
My trainings emphasize:
self-Reiki as the foundation of practice
Reiki principles and history
meditation and energetic awareness
traditional Japanese Reiki practices
intuition and body listening
consent and boundaries
compassionate presence
ethical practice
grounding and integration
offering Reiki to others responsibly
I want students to leave Reiki training not simply knowing where to place their hands, but beginning to develop a deeper relationship with presence, intuition, compassion, and themselves.
Words from our community
“In my experience, receiving healing from Daniel is like being wrapped in a cocoon of golden light. I feel a gentle energy moving through areas that need attention and gently realigning them in an optimal way. It’s like being in a cloud of butterflies and hummingbirds.”
— Beth F.
“As someone who suffers from chronic pain, I am always looking to try out practices that can bring relief to my nervous system and ease tension in my body. Daniel’s safe and calming presence made me comfortable trying out something new. What I experienced was something that felt truly self-generated…as though it was coming through me. It has been empowering to connect with my own energy in this way…so much that I decided to train and study Reiki with Daniel! I’m so grateful for all the positive ripple effects that have shown up in my life thanks to this gentle practice and Daniel’s wisdom & support.”
— Halle K.
“I didn’t know what to expect going into my first ever Reiki session with Daniel, but I felt instantly relaxed and cared for throughout the whole process. Through dealing with different energy centers, chakras, and having loving touch, I felt more expansive, cared for, and aligned with my body after our time together. I left feeling grateful for the ways I felt open and healed. Thank you so much, Daniel, for your time and commitment to my health and paying attention to what my body and spirit needed.”
— Annie U.
